floraPell, made from the wool of living and healthy sheeps, is an ecological multifunctional fertilizer with long-term effect for organic farming. Sheep wool pellets are an ideal biofertilizer for fruit and ornamental woods, vegetables and pot and ornamental plants.
It is 100% organic and renewable without external additives and chemicals. The water storage and the soil loosening by swelling effect deserve a special mention.
floraPell is listed as a biofertilizer for organic farming in the re-source list of the “Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau (FiBL) Deutschland e.V.”.
• total nitrogen | 10 to 12 % N |
• potassium | 4 to 6 % K2O |
• Total sulfur | 1.8 to 2 % S |
• phosph. pentoxide | 0.15 to 0,17 % P2O5 |
• magnesium oxide | 0.05 % MgO |
• organic matter | about 85 % dry matter |
• pH | about 8.8 |
Extensive test results show very low heavy metal content, substantially below all limits for natural soils.
floraPell sheep wool pellets swell in the soil. Very well the pellets can absorb water and store it up to 3.5-fold of its own weight.
Because of that an additional water reservoir is available for the plant.
The right photo shows the swelling of sheep wool pellets by adding water. Both tubes were previously filled with an identical volume of pellets.
Mineral fertilizers are mostly not approved for organic farming.
Organic fertilizers such as manure, slurry, dung and other by-products from agricultural production have the disadvantage that they contain nutrients in a relatively low and varying concentration. Also the environmental impact of its strong odor is negative.
Pharmaceutical ingredients such as antibiotics mostly used in conventional livestock farming are the greater problem. The livestock excretes the degradation products of these ingredients. In the form of manure or dung it is possible to influence the environment and the human food chain.
Fertilizers, based of secondary raw materials such as sewage sludge, compost and other organic raw materials, shall not be used on 40% of agricultural land in Germany.
For organic farming its application is generally excluded.
The sheep as a domesticated farm animal makes a significant contribution to the preservation of cultural landscapes in Germany. Sheep wool sheared from live animals is not cleaned before processing. In this way all stick ingredients such as grease, dirt, grass and feces, improve the fertilizing effect.
Sheep wool is an important animal renewable resource. It is up to 17% of nitrogen. Because of its high nitrogen content, which is many times higher than the required values for nitrate fertilizers, sheep wool is particulary suitable as basis for the new fertilizing pellets.
For the production of floraPell raw wool from the shorn sheep is mechanically processed, dried, and then pelleted.
The product is added No additives or binders. According to the EU regulation 1069 floraPell is processed as a Category 3 animal by-product according to the requirements.
The declaration is made in accordance "Düngemittelverorndung". The product is in the "Beriebsmittelliste für den ökologischen Landbau in Deutschland (FiBl e.V.) " added.
The brand name floraPell and the utility model for the production of sheep wool pellets were protected by the German Patent and Trademark Office.
